Directed
by Paul Thomas, and a remake of a title he did back in 1990 that won industry
praise, this new version of The
Masseuse stars Jenna in the title role and her real-life husband Justin
Sterling as a lonely man who is looking for a little companionship and pays
Jenna to give it to him. The film takes a long time slowly developing the
relationship between Jenna and Justin, as their sexual intimacy moves from
simple foreplay (at the film's beginning) to full-blown sex (at the conclusion).
There's also a great bondage scene at about the mid-way point of the movie that
not only has Jenna testing her S&M limits, but brings into question just how
stable the character played by Justin actually is. The Masseuse is made for couples, women and those die-hard porners (like myself) out there who remember the "Golden Age" of adult film (late 70s/early 80s) when adult directors actually tried to make a movie, instead of just figuring out a way to wrap a story around five or six sex scenes. Those into the current "gonzo craze" or all-sex DVDs are probably not going to have the patience to enjoy this movie, but for all you guys out there who finally want to convince your significant other that there's more to porn than just naked women, The Masseuse is the perfect film to initiate your partner with.
From a bonus features standpoint, The Masseuse also scores some major points. Included on the DVD are a feature-length commentary from Jenna and Justin; a pair of sex scenes that were deleted from the final film; a solo masturbation scene with Jenna; a Behind The Scenes Featurette; and plenty more, including a multiple angle option for the movie's sexual action.
